About Real Conditions Magazines
The Community Writing Project hosts writing workshops for people who ordinarily do not consider themselves to be writers, and publishes their reflections on everyday life in a magazine we call Real Conditions. Because only the collective efforts of ordinary people can make a better world, we are particularly interested in the creative expressions and unique understandings of those who have been relegated to the margins of society, including the poor, the oppressed, immigrants, and those who risk their privilege to join them. Their stories are found in these magazines.
Below is a list of Real Conditions magazines that are currently available in pdf. format so that you may review, download, print, or send others copies of the magazines or selected stories. We encourage you to share the writers' stories widely. We hope to have a complete list of Real Conditions magazines available in pdf. format in the near future.
